Welcome to the ZooPictures site!

This is the land of the beautiful animal pictures! This site is created to show how much we like the Szeged Zoo through the pictures made there.

When we have time and the wheather is good, we go to the Zoo and we share the pictures here. We hope we can add new pictures every week on summer. During the winter time we plan to add our older photos to the site as long as we have older ones.

If you have nice pictures about the Zoo which you want to share, you can write to us! You can contact us the same way if you have any idea how we can improve our site to make it better.

There are 4630 pictures on the site which introduces 170 species! All pictures can be downloaded as a wallpaper. Have fun!

Weekly dosage

This year we want to visit the park every week - when the weather allows it. This is from last weekend.

Sunny spring

Now we spent a few hours in the Park thanks to the true May weather: sunshine and warm. And contrary to our old habit we went early in the morning. And the animals were much more relaxed than they usually do.

April weather

We did a short walk on the last day of April in a typical April weather: wthin an hour the beautiful sunny day turned into cold and windy.

The Zoo story

The construction of Szeged Zoo had been very slow, until May 1989 when the park open its doors to the public, as only a 3 acres of presentation. Because of poor finances thay can't support large species, and thus was born the concept, which makes the Szeged Zoo still has a unique stock among domestic zoos. It has been specialized for small species, and soon achieved international success in keeping small monkeys. In 1992, the major improvements could be started. The first result of the improvements was the study room which was introduced in 1993.

The original concept of the continental showing the first results of the fifth anniversary of the opening of the park is completed. Then the visitors were awarded possession of a 5.5 acre South America parcel. This presentation was a unique in that time in our country, because of the animals had been shown in large yards, mostly bounded by electric fence. The South America section has been continuously expanding. In 1997 the two monkey-island was completed on which yellow-cheeked gibbons and siamangs were placed.
